Virtual SEP
Virtual SEP crushes doubts on overseas opportunities
An all-expenses paid exchange programme, from the comfort of home
If you've ever considered going on an exchange, you would be painfully aware of how big an investment of time and money it is. Not to downplay the uncertainty of discovering what truly is advantageous and beneficial for you. Suddenly, you may not want to go at all.
Well you're not alone. Uncertainty is a heavy burden for anyone considering this leap of faith. This is precisely why Virtual SEP came about.
For participants, it was a mere sample of the real deal. But, it turned out to be eye-opening.
Imagine having glimpses of multiple countries without the hefty air tickets and accommodations. One moment you’re discovering the ins and outs of Taiwan's pharmacy practice and the next you’re chatting with Korean students on the intricacies of their dining culture. The list goes on.
All in a matter of 2 days. Participants of this Virtual SEP were immersed in more than half a dozen different countries - SEVEN to be exact, including Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia.
Well what were some of the fun-filled activities included in this tour package?
An exclusive introduction into the pharmaceutical industry / pharmacy systems in different countries, given by esteemed professors and professionals from all over Asia.
Exciting ice-breakers to make some international buddies.
A melting pot of culture! After a riveting exchange of cultures, participants condense their findings into stunning poster designs presented to everyone. Here’s one: <picture of poster>
“I was truly impressed by Prof Voltaire Li’s presentation on “Training to become a clinical pharmacist in Taiwan”... His talk was truly eye-opening and gave me more thoughts about different industry practice habits and phenomenons in Taiwan and the USA.” - XinYi Y1 PHS
XinYi isn’t the only one who left with such valuable insight into the pharmacy workflow in other countries. Naturally, they’d get a stronger grasp of overseas career or study prospects.
All things considered, I’m sure the biggest difference between the participants now and themselves prior to the event is this: a more informed decision. It’s needless to say how important that is, considering the weight of the decision.
If you are ever unsure about overseas opportunities, don’t let that feeling stall you any longer of a life-changing experience.
Overseas opportunities (especially for pharmacy students) come few and far between.
So act now. Join the many like-minded participants that aspire to one day take their pharmaceutical knowledge overseas.
The International Relations Committee posts their events on the NUSPS telegram channel. Keep a look out so that you can be next to take that plunge.
