Pharmacy Professions Around the World

What’s it like to be a pharmacist outside the little red dot?

IRC’s annual event, Pharmacy Professions Around the World (PPAW), featured glimpses of life as a pharmacist across the vast blue seas! Participants even had the chance to connect with pharmacy students from abroad!

On the 25th of February, participants explored the world from the comfort of their own homes as esteemed speakers from student pharmaceutical societies of Korea, Canada, and UK, shared about the pharmacy profession in their respective countries on Zoom.

This event was made possible with the kind collaboration of the Korean National Association for Pharmaceutical Students (KNAPS, Korea), the British Pharmaceutical Students' Association (BPSA, UK), and the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI, Canada).

The sharing was centered around the profession as a whole, from education as student-pharmacists to work life as full-fledged hospital pharmacists. Our own Dr Wang Aiwen also shared on behalf of NUSPS – talk about a cross-cultural dialogue!

No where to hide

After the speakers’ sharing, it was the participants’ turn! They were split into smaller groups for activities and group discussions about the sharing. As student-pharmacists themselves, this gave them a sneak peek into their future prospects – which even included taking their practice BEYOND Singapore.

“I hope that the attendees were able to foster some new friendships with their peers from the different countries” - Tan Hua Swen, Project Director

While these speakers only show up once a year, don’t worry! IRC has got you covered. There will be more opportunities on the horizon with more speakers from across the globe. Keep an eye out for future events on the NUSPS tele channel, stay engaged. We're looking forward to welcoming you to the next life-changing event.
