Who are we?

The Essential Medicines Committee (EMed) is the voluntary wing of the National University of Singapore Pharmaceutical Society (NUSPS) that educates the community, especially the elderly, on safe and effective medication use through free health talks, medication reviews, and interactive sessions, serving as a practical platform for pharmacy students to apply their skills in health education, promoting better medication literacy and adherence.

Our Events

  • KYMGIR is EMed’s annual flagship event, held in November. The 2025 event took place on 2 November at Toa Payoh West Community Club, reaching ~150 seniors with the support of 79 student volunteers and 13 pharmacists. Activities included personalised medication reviews, pharmaceutical care plans, expert talks on osteoporosis and fall prevention, Tai Chi demonstrations, and interactive quizzes. Partner booths from Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), Health Promotion Board (HPB), and Blackmores further promoted active ageing and digital health literacy.

  • Conducted on 27 March 2025 at AWWA Active Ageing Centre, this workshop engaged 30 seniors through student-led presentations and quizzes based on MOH’s Know Your Medications materials, focusing on safe and effective medication management at home.

  • In collaboration with the IPE Committee, FFF aims to improve migrant workers’ health literacy through education, simple health screenings, and counselling. The event allows students from different healthcare disciplines to collaborate while giving back to the migrant worker community.
