XPerience Pharmacy Camp

Xperience Pharmacy, in a unique way!

120. That’s almost the size of your cohort. 120 eager minds from junior colleges and polytechnics, all with a burning desire to learn more about YOUR course of study, gathered at this year’s Xperience Pharmacy camp.

Our OGLs brought them along this immersive experience that was jam packed with hands-on activities, and industry insights. For many, it was a major eye-opener. For some, it was the final push they needed to decide whether Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical science was the place for them.

If you’re wondering how it all went down, let me tell you…

Xpharm, the Xcellent Xperience

was born out of a strong desire to expose prospective students to the field of pharmacy and its unique niche in the healthcare sphere. In just 3 days, XPharm gave them a better view of what pharmacy is like in Singapore, through a better understanding of how they could forge their very own career path!

Through a plethora of hands-on activities, ranging from making their own medicines, to drug discovery, to even patient counselling, all participants dove head-first into what pharmacy is like!

I really love the activities planned by the committee and it was really fun and gave us fellow participants many insights into both pharmacy and pharmaceutical science

Mr. Benny Li from National Skin Centre & Mr. Marshall Liu from Novo Nordisk graced the event to give out valuable insights, like career prospects, into the healthcare and industrial sectors of pharmacy. I’m sure even our OGLs learnt something new!

I enjoyed how informative the talks given by the 2 professionals were!

Activities Galore!

With that many activities lined up for the participants and the seniors, what could possibly be some highlights?

By far, XPharm’s largest scale and most exciting event was its mass game! With unique ‘superpowers’ being granted to teams in an initial bidding phase, they were then given free reign to use them in the subsequent station games. But what exactly were these teams meant to do? Well, all teams had a patient to cure, and winning these games gave them hints in the final Running Man-esque game, in which they had to search the Faculty of Science for their patient’s cure. Of course, while doing so, they also had to ensure that they were not eliminated by other teams. How exciting!

It’s like Running Man!

  • Participants are tasked to cure a patient

  • Find a drug from all over FoS

  • Watch out! Other teams are out to get you…

While XPharm has come to an end, I hope that its spirit has not. May everyone continue to serve as inspirations for their juniors in this new semester!
