NHG Keynote Lecture
Starting off the semester on a high note!
Welcome back to school, Pharmily! To kick-start the second semester, our friends from NHG came down to deliver a keynote lecture to our Year 2 to Year 4 pharmacy students. The evening began with a feast for the eyes and palate — a bountiful spread laid out across LT27’s foyer for staff and students alike to enjoy. Throughout the reception, students had the opportunity to mingle with other healthcare professionals and peruse showcases of exciting up-and-coming NHG projects.
We promise the buffet was open to everyone — and it tasted better than the photo suggests!
After picking the vast swathes of food clean, students were ushered into LT27, where the main event began. The session commenced with an address by our department head, Prof Giorgia Pastorin, followed by a short talk by Prof Joe Sim, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NHG Health. Together, they introduced NHG’s inner workings and shared their vivid working experiences, providing us with a better idea of what joining NHG entails.
Lectures have never been this crowded!
Following the sharing, a forum discussion between students and panellists was held. Experts from different specialties and levels of seniority – from junior pharmacists to chief pharmacists – were invited to offer their unique perspectives on the comings and goings of working in NHG. We students, on the other hand, responded in kind with a flurry of questions, eager to glean as much insight as possible — which our guest speakers were more than happy to answer. Leveraging their diverse backgrounds, the panellists delivered valuable guidance on various aspects, even giving us tips on achieving high GPAs!
The stars of the night! 🌟🌟
As the evening inevitably drew to a close, so too did the discussion session. Students reluctantly filtered out of the lecture theatre with not just a better understanding of NHG, but also precious trinkets of advice. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to our friends at NHG for spending the evening with us!
