Food Jio!
Because what’s better than chilling with free snacks after the hecticness of midterms?
Held on 12 March 2025, Food Jio! was a post-midterm event organised by the five houses of NUSPS — Procter, Galen, Scheele, Fleming and Pasteur — for staff and students from all levels to come together for a much-needed respite.
From 4 to 6pm, around 75 students and staff alike gathered in S4A’s Level 3 BCD rooms to unwind and socialise after the busyness of the first half of the semester.
To everyone’s delight, the event featured a pleasant mix of refreshments, from savoury Domino’s pizza to Subway cookies – a classic sweet treat.
These fan-favourite nibbles were perfect for fuelling casual conversations and hearty laughter.
The most special part of this event was the presence of staff advisors and professors. After all, when else do students get the opportunity to interact with faculty staff outside of lessons? Throughout the two hours of the event, staff and students engaged in warm conversations and chatted about everything under the sun – from academic content to their interests and hobbies. Students gained a different perspective of the faculty body and began to see them in a more personal and relaxed light beyond the classroom. Remember guys, profs are not just lecturers, but also mentors with their personal stories and experiences to share!
Judging by the boisterous chatter that filled the room and the swift disappearance of the food, Food Jio! was unquestionably a resounding success. It also served as a timely reminder that sometimes, the best remedy for academic fatigue can be something as simple as good food with even better company.
