The pharmacy profession plays an integral role in the health care and regulatory
practices of each country. Pharmacists ensure the safety of patients and give them adequate
information regarding their medications. Additionally, pharmacists in the manufacturing setting
ensure that drugs and medical devices are of the highest quality and must serve their intended
purposes. Regulatory pharmacists, on the other hand, are responsible for authorizations,
approvals, and surveillance of medications and their clinical trials. However, despite these key
involvements, pharmacists are still neglected and unrecognized members of the healthcare
team. As the future of the profession, it is part of our responsibility to ensure that we take part
in advancing the field and proactively campaign for our vital involvement in patient care and
safety.
The 1st Joint Asia Pacific Forum on Pharmaceutical Practices is a collaboration with various student-based pharmacy associations (Singapore, Taiwan, Philipines and Thailand) in the Asia Pacific Region. The forum aims to expose pharmacy students to their future profession and see how each field is vital towards the goal of the pharmaceutical profession. Additionally, it aims to discover the unique systems and practices of pharmacists in the different Asia Pacific countries. This shall result in to exchange of culture and practices in the field of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
