Babwoooweque - Came for the food, stayed for the VIBEESSSS
There was never an awkward moment of silence, the night went on charged with energy, the smoky aroma wafting through the air. It was heartening to see all the inter-TBL interactions happening. Held on 14 October, Bawooobeque was a Fleming house BBQ and potluck event for Flamingoes to bond together and unwind from the mid-terms and CA stresses.
A super wholesome moment was when people, initially strangers, were taking turns to fan the people cooking, and also feed the people cooking. With an abundance of S’mores, chicken wings and satay sticks, everyone gathering together to cook, eat and spill tea, what more could you have asked for?
Everyone talked about everything and anything — from school happenings to study tips to even cohort drama. As someone who was personally there, the vibes in that moment were as if I was chatting with friends I’ve known for very long, even when I’ve only learnt of their names moments prior.
To everyone’s surprise, as a rather introverted-introvert, and as someone who usually dislikes big groups and social events, I never regretted signing up for this and the never-ending conversations didn’t even put a dent in my perpetually empty social battery. As we listened to stories that both seniors and juniors had to tell, we laughed till our stomachs hurt (quite literally).
When asked about the Bawooobeque, attendees also shared the same sentiments as me and expressed that they really enjoyed chilling and interacting with everybody. It was nice to have an intimate house bonding event like this that actually allowed us to talk to each other for such a long period of time, and it really made all of us feel at home. Overall, it was 10/10 an event that I would go for again and again and I would love to see more of such events in the future!
